MBA Board Member Program

The Roy E. Crummer Graduate School of Business
MBA Board Member Program

Would you like to have the benefit of another energetic, business-minded young person on your board of directors? The Philanthropy Center and the Rollins College, Roy E. Crummer Graduate School of Business are teaming up to train MBA students in board governance. These students are willing to serve as MBA Board Members until they have completing their graduate studies.

Nonprofit organizations can receive the assistance of students from the top ranked MBA program in Florida. The students will be trained in “best practices” of board governance.

The MBA Board Member will contribute to the nonprofits by:
• bringing an enthusiastic and youthful approach that adds a different prospective
• providing business skills that are based on the most current teachings
• having access to the counsel of faculty and staff at Rollins when deeper guidance on issues is needed
• improving their community outreach and increasing the boards circle of contacts
• creating a next generation of leaders, committed to the mission of the nonprofit (75% of Crummer graduates remain in Central Florida)

Nonprofit organizations can request a MBA Board Member student to join their board of directors if they meet the following criteria:
1. Must be a 501(c)(3) organization
2. Must be a current member of the Philanthropy Center
3. Must carry Directors & Officers insurance for their board members
4. Must have a minimum annual budget of $500,000
5. Must submit a completed application (including supporting documentation)
6. Must agree to furnish the MBA Board Member with a board procedures manual
7. Must orient the MBA Board Member to their board service.
