Meet the Staff

Margaret Linnane
|
Margaret Linnane is
the executive director of the Philanthropy Center. Prior to coming
to the Center, Ms. Linnane was the executive director of the Second
Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida for 18 years. Her extensive
experience in resource development, program and fiscal management,
and community outreach were paramount in selecting her to lead the
Philanthropy Center in 2004.
Ms. Linnane fills a number of volunteer roles in Central Florida.
She serves on the advisory boards of 2-1-1 Community Resources and
the Nonprofit Management Advisory Board of the University of Central
Florida's College of Health and Public Affairs. She also serves
on Heart of Florida United Way's Community Impact Steering Committee.
Ms. Linnane is past president of the Florida Association of Food
Banks, former chair of the Heart of Florida United Way's Council
of Agency Executives, and served on the board of directors of Gulf
States Credit Union.
A past recipient of the prestigious Martin L. Bell Memorial Scholarship,
a full-tuition scholarship awarded annually to a nonprofit executive
in the Corporate M.B.A. Program at the Roy E. Crummer Graduate School
of Business, Linnane holds an M.B.A., and a B.A. from Rollins College. |

Emily Furlong is the senior program
manager responsible for professional continuing education for nonprofit
organizations. Her nonprofit experience includes planning and development,
nonprofit and volunteer management, training, and board governance
in the fields of domestic violence, senior services, housing and
emergency management. She has been a founding member of two nonprofit
organizations and served as executive director of one. Ms. Furlong
has been active in the nonprofit community since completing her
undergraduate education at the University of Mississippi. |

Lee Bailey coordinates and teaches
fundraising workshops at the Philanthropy Center. Her thirty-year
career is divided between the nonprofit and educational sectors. She
has served as an executive director for several social service and
art organizations and has been responsible for resource development
in various educational settings. Ms. Bailey held the position of Director
of Resource Development at Brevard Community College and was president
of the Florida Council of Resource Development until her recent retirement
from that position in April. Ms. Bailey holds a Bachelors of Fine
Arts from the University of New Mexico, educational credentials from
the University of Alabama, and a Master of Liberal Studies from Rollins
College. |

Brian Henties is the program manager
responsible for the areas of business development, advocacy &
public policy, and the Certificate in Nonprofit Management. He has
had over 12 years of nonprofit management experience working in faith-based,
education, housing, community organizing, and advocacy organizations.
Additionally, he has had 15 years of legislative political experience
and served as president of Ohio Citizen Action, one of the largest
advocacy organizations in Ohio. He volunteers with the Orange County
Public Schools Compact Mentor Program and the Federation of Congregations
United to Serve (FOCUS). He received his B.A. in Political Science
from the University of Dayton. |

Kaia W. Forgét is the program
manager responsible for the Donors Forum of Central Florida and executive
transition programming. Her nonprofit experience includes program
planning and development, volunteer management as well as training.
She has worked with AmeriCorps service programs nationwide as well
as local regional and education-based nonprofits. She is a member
of the board of directors for the League of Women Voters of Orange
County and serves as co-chair of the League Education Committee. Kaia
received a B.A. in Communication Studies from Canisius College in
Buffalo, N.Y., and an M.A. in Mass Communication from the University
of Central Florida. |

Ginny Justice
is the executive assistant at the Center. Most of her experience with
the nonprofit community has been as a volunteer. Her experience ranges
from hospital work to educational assistance to community service
with faith-based organizations. She is currently on the board of trustees
at the Mennello Museum of American Art. Ms. Justice received her B.A.
from the University of Central Florida and is currently a student
in the Master of Liberal Studies program at Rollins. |

Barbara Van Arsdale is the Center’s
administrative assistant and provides support for the Donors Forum
of Central Florida. After resigning from a banking career to raise
a family, Ms. Van Arsdale served the community as a volunteer for
several organizations, including the Maitland Art Center, a faith-based
organization, and for many years in the Seminole County Public and
private schools. Ms. Van Arsdale earned a B.A. in Accounting from
Rollins College. |

Jenny Newhouse is the workshop coordinator for the
Center. Most of her experience with the nonprofit community has been
in the education sector. Prior to joining the Philanthropy Center,
she coordinated workshops and other events for the Center for School
Improvement & Policy Studies at Boise State University. Ms. Newhouse
holds a B.B.A in Marketing from Boise State University. |
